Proudly, this is the first of many blogs you will see from the environment4change team. Let me introduce ourselves! We are environment4change and as the title suggests, we offer a new digital approach on cleaning up the planet, built on Blockchain, powered by Platform as a Service (PaaS) and the global community. I am Peter, one of the founders of environement4change. It is my pleasure to produce this introductory blog for you all. In the future both myself and Andrew (co-founder), as well as many of our dedicated team, will be writing to you informing you of technology platform development updates, new environmental partnerships and collaborations, and generally imparting to you important environmental and project news. But we want to hear from you also! If you have an environmental news story, or thought piece and you would like to share it with us please send to us at: email@example.com. We will publish what we can and look forward to sharing your content with our growing global audience.
So, let us begin! Any beginning of a story normally starts with a why? Why has environment4change been set-up and what does it hope to achieve? I suppose this story should be no different.
The why explained?
Before the age of man, Earth was the cradle of creation, evolution and development for all living things. Life, from the simplest single cell organisms struggled for a foot-hold and a chance to reproduce, mutate and evolve. Our Earth at its best, proved an abundant giver and provider and many species arrived and thrived in a habitat suitable for evolution and change. As the ‘hands of time’ moved forward, this abundant growth of unique biomass of species endured two significant extinction events seeing up to 95% of species, both land and sea dwelling, wiped out, expunged from the almanac record of the living, seeded to the fossil record only.
As proven over the annals of time, every organism and species have certain habitat needs for the conditions in which they will thrive. Some organisms and species are tolerant of wide variations, while others are very specific in their needs. Removal of favourable conditions, or sudden and unexpected change to habitat will cause the organism or species to struggle and depending on other factors may well lead to permanent loss of species from the global biomass. Without argument, mankind has caused significant change to the habitat we share with many other global ‘living things’. Our hunger of selfish ‘wants’ has led to the eradication or endangerment of a number of species. Our inability to arrest the decline of the many habitats of our shared planet endangers many more.
environment4change believe to prevent further lose and reverse some of the damage done, we need a different approach, an approach where collaboration preplaces confrontation, where digital tools of aggregation and consolidation are brought together in a platform service architecture, where local environmental activism has the power and persuasiveness of a global ‘call for arms.’ The arms we speak of, are the collective power of a global community. We believe a platform as a service architecture, around an inclusive, empowering, enabling and democratizing model, is the conduit needed to unite a global population against apathy, ignorance and rapacious behaviour. The success of environmental efforts, over the next five to ten years, will depend on our success and these years promise to shape life on Earth for centuries to come.
A project of this kind has not been conceived, planned for, or started in service of the environmental industry. With the global rubbishing of our waterways and the destruction and deforestation of the worlds native habitats and the lungs of our planet, we think it is about time the planet is given access and exposure to the best digital entrepreneurship and new business models of inclusion, participation and ownership, and that’s exactly what we plan to do.
environment4change is a platform as a service, using elements of blockchain technology, web services, social media and e-commerce, encapsulated in and around a decentralized operating system. The goal is to democratize and scale environmentalism so that we can all clean up Planet Earth.
Initial Coin Offering via EOS
The environment4change (E4C) Initial Coin Offering (ICO) will be in support of the development of a PaaS in support of current and future environmental intent and action. Participation in the ICO will be by many popular digital currencies, EOS, BTC, and ETH, as well as fiat currencies (GBP, Euro and USD).
The E4C token will be used to transfer value and encode interaction data from our PaaS, the service boundary, in and around the greater ecosystem. A donation against any participating environmental organisation or project will be transparent via the EOS BlockChain technology.
